After 4 years
and close to 150 installments, I have decided (effective February
26, 2010) to stop doing 'The Heard' for The Cape Cod
Chronicle.
It's been fun
doing a weekly panel that was essentially based on overheard
conversation, but at the end of the day I wasn't given the editorial
freedom to do whatever I wanted with the cartoon -- and that
was the only reason I agreed to do the weekly panel for the Chronicle.
With the cartoon
I tried to take chances, to be flip, to confound, to stimulate
thought -- and if I was lucky, maybe even encourage a snicker
or two.
Thanks for
coming along on this ride! It was a blast!
Best,
Bob

Bob Staake's
The Heard comic panel runs every week in the Cape Cod Chronicle. In the cartoon, Staake draws on overheard
conversations, gossip and the quirky people he comes in contact
with in Chatham, Massachusetts.
Sometimes The
Heard is funny, sometimes it is merely lame. Either way,
Staake considers it cheaper than going into pschological therapy.
