30 years after
beginning what became a successful career as an internationally
respected illustrator and designer, Bob Staake decided to create his
ultimate, dream studio -- from the ground up.
having moved
to a 200-year-old new england home in the historic district of
chatham, massachusetts on the elbow of cape cod, staake elected
to replace a modest barn on his property with a studio that he
designed from scratch -- and to document the entire process via
state of the art studio.com.
building on
the exact 12' x 20' footprint where the original building stood,
the new three-level structure was erected with modularity, convenience
and user-friendliness being the goal -- and then outfitting the
studio with the best products, components and materials available
to discriminating artists, writers, designers and aesthetically-minded
professionals.
the idea was
to take the guesswork out of the creation of a state of the art
workspace -- and enable others to find the best products when
outfitting their own working environments.
from windows
to flooring, seating to storage units, lighting to computer equipment
-- these products are donated by manufacturers and distributors
to the state of the art studio project -- and are promoted on
the web site, in interviews with the artist and in the editorial
press in the design trade publications that write about the creation
of this showcase workspace.
every product
donated to state of the art studio is displayed on a unique web
page within this web site -- along with general product information,
photos, and a hyperlink enabling others to purchase the product
for themselves.
if you are
a manufacturer or retailer of high-end products for the discriminating
design professional, then this is your invitation to participate
in the state of the art studio project.
