CopyNo is a multi-level copyright warning/system
that uses JavaScript-based rollovers and your Internet images.
At the core of the system is
a drag-and-drop application that enables one to auto-generate
JavaScript-based code that can be used with any existing html
authoring program.
Using CopyNo
eliminates the ability to download a protected image from the
Internet using the traditional "mouse-over" method
-- and warns potential infringers that the image is copyrighted
by the creator.
CopyNo works with JavaScript-enabled web
browsers.

Please read
this very carefully. Here's how CopyNo works...
1: An infringer sees an individual, CopyNo-protected image on a web page and
may attempt to download it -- the attempt triggers the display
of the CopyNo warning graphic.
2: If the infringer attempts to use the
traditional "mouse-over" method to download the image
or drags it to their desktop, they will only download
the CopyNo warning graphic (or the referring page's html source
code).
3: If the infringer clicks on the image,
they will actually click on the CopyNo
image -- and will be taken to the CopyNo
copyright warning page.
(Try this with
the Grant Wood painting, 'American Gothic' to the left)
4: The CopyNo
warning page explains to the infringer in straightforward and
simple terms that the image is copyrighted -- and that it is
illegal to re-post it.
5: An additional page accessed through
the warning notice explains how one might obtain legal
permission to use the image.
6: However, if the infringer is savvy
and persists in using any other methods to download and illegally
re-post the protected image, they may do so at increased legal
risk.
7: This is because the infringer has
been aggressively warned that the image is copyrighted,
and by using CopyNo, the creator of the image has taken
significant efforts to prevent its downloading.
8: If the infringer does find
a way to violate the copyright and still posts the image, the
creator's copyright infringement case may be significantly
strengthened, and the legal ramifications against the infringer
could be far greaterthan had they simply attempted to
use the simple"mouse-over" method.
9: The patent-pending CopyNo warning system better protects a visual
creator's rights in a simple, yet multi-leveled, way.
